Importance of Engineering

Engineering – a profession in which technical knowledge is used and experimented to develop things that benefit humankind, makes this field extremely enticing to choose. It is the reason that in India alone, there are nearly 25 lakh students taking admissions in different courses of B.Tech. every year. As per the official statistics from All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) for the year 2020-21, India has 6052 engineering colleges with a total intake of 2442092. Due to this reason, India alone produces nearly millions of engineers every year.

This is one of the reasons why IIT JEE is considered to be one of the toughest yet the most appeared for exams in India. The most important part of the process is how you prepare for it and how you choose colleges after your competitive exam results because lack of awareness can land you in the wrong college and stream, ultimately leading to poor future professional conditions.

Ways To Apply For B.Tech.

So finally you’ve completed your 12th boards exams with PCM (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics) and want to take admission in B.Tech. colleges.

Before applying for any engineering college, it is important to have a valid state-level or national-level entrance exam score. Therefore, students need to apply for the relevant engineering entrance exam depending on their aspirations and requirements. Some examples related to the B.Tech. application process are given below.

Example 1: Students have to register for the centralised admission process to get admitted in NITs and IITs. They have to submit the application form for JEE Mains. So, if a student qualifies the desired cutoff, and wants to secure admission in NIT, he/ she must take part in the centralised admission process conducted by JoSAA- Joint Seat Allocation Authority. Students have to submit an application form for each NIT. After the announcement of JEE Main results, students can visit the official website of JoSAA and submit the application form. If students want admission in IIT then he/she should meet particular eligibility criteria as follows:

  • JEE Mains cutoff must be cleared
  • Minimum 75% score in 12th exams
  • Score within top 20 percentile of the qualifying examination

Example 2: – If students are willing to join a deemed university, they will have to submit an application form through the official website of the respective deemed university. That university conducts its own separate exam.

Example 3: – Same as  JoSAA, every state also conducts a centralised admission process for B.Tech courses. For example, B.Tech aspirants in Uttar Pradesh must register for the Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination (UPSEE) conducted by AKTU  after qualifying UPSEE, AKTU conducts counselling sessions for the students to select the college according to their results and seats are allotted according the cutoff and availability. A big advantage of participating in such counselling processes is that students have to apply for each engineering college in each state separately.

Example 4: – If a student wants to take direct admission in B.Tech. college without an entrance test score, he/ she can submit a separate application form through the official website of the college and they will be considered on the basis of their 12th board results or visit the college directly to obtain the application fee.

Students need to pay a registration or application fee for admission in B.Tech. The authorities of respective colleges will decide the registration fee.
