It’s true that most fast-food joints aren’t temples of healthy food, regardless of how many vegetarian options they offer. That’s also true with Jack in the Box. But if you’re trying to lose weight, deal with high blood pressure, or just maintain your health, then you need to be really picky.

In other words, don’t order these menu items at Jack in the Box:

Chick-N-Tater Melt Munchie Meal

You pay a lot to enjoy any of the expensive munchie meals, but it’s not all about the money. It’s also about your health. All these munchie meals are bad for you, especially if you’re trying to watch your weight, because they all come with more than 1,000 calories. The “munchie” in the name wasn’t an accident.

Sure, this might sate your cravings for food at any time. After all, your order gets you a buttery croissant, in which you have crispy chicken, bacon, and even hash browns all doused in a melty blend of 3 cheeses and ranch sauce.

And that’s not even the end of it, as the meal also comes with 2 regular tacos, halfsie fries, and a small fountain drink.

But with this option, you get more than 2,000 calories. That may even already exceed your daily allotment of calories if you’re on a weight-loss diet. It also doesn’t help that it contains 28g of saturated fat, plus the 1.5g of trans fat that you really want to avoid at any rate.

In addition, you also get 3,460mg of sodium. That’s too much even for regular folks, and your doctor will really be annoyed with you if you get this order while you have high blood pressure issues.

It doesn’t work with low-carb diets, either. It comes with 220g of carbs, which is way over the typical low-carb allotment of 20g to 57g of carbs.

Stacked Grilled Cheese Burger Munchie Meal

Lots of people like this, because it’s just tasty and unique too. The star is the cheeseburger filled with the usual: beef patty, lettuce, tomato, pickles, cheese, and mayo. But what’s unusual is that the top bun of the cheeseburger is an entire sourdough grilled cheese sandwich. You get more cheese, plus that terrific sourdough bread as well.

Of course, that’s not all. You also get 2 regular tacos and some halfsie fries, along with a small fountain drink. This is virtually guaranteed to satisfy your need for food at any time.

It may not seem as bad as the Chick-N-Tater Melt Munchie Meal because it has fewer calories, but the 1,890 calories will still be a lot. You also get 27g of saturated fat, 2.5g of trans fat, 3,660mg of sodium, and 213g of carbs (including 79g of sugar).

Everything here is just too much, including that seemingly innocuous 2.5g of trans fat. According to the American Heart Association, you should limit your trans fat intake to just 1% of your daily calorie allotment. So, if you’re limiting yourself to just 2,000 calories a day, then that means you should only have 2g of trans fat at the most

Large Oreo Cookie Ice Cream Shake

Okay, we understand that the classic fast-food combo is to have a burger, some fries, and a nice shake. But you may want to take a pass at this particular shake. Among all the dessert items available in the Jack in the Box menu, this one comes with the most calories at 1,145.

You also get 2g of trans fat and a whopping 107g of sugar. This is really unhealthy. With the grand total of 137g of carbs, you’ll get a spike in your blood sugar, and then you’ll go through the sugar crash afterwards.

Grande Sausage Breakfast Burrito

Sure, you might want this burrito for breakfast. But it’s not really a healthy way to start the day, not with the 1,070 calories.

But that’s not the worst of it. The really bad news is that it comes with 2,210mg of sodium. That means you’re already getting your whole day’s allotment of salt for your first meal of the day. And you’re sure to go over the limit, as there’s just no way you can go salt-less for the rest of the day.

Jack’s Chicken Teriyaki Bowl

The good news here is that you don’t really miss much if you don’t order this teriyaki bowl. Most people say that it’s rather disappointing, and you’re better off ordering other tastier items.

If you do get this item, then you’re in for much worse than disappointment at its taste. It’s actually not all that healthy, despite the presence of the broccoli and carrots. The teriyaki sauce, which most people say is what makes this bowl somewhat remotely tasty, is also responsible for much of the 2,120mg of sodium.
