If you’re a fan of Stargirl, you certainly have some favorite episodes. There are some that are especially memorable, like the first episode, “Stargirl,” and the fourth episode, “Wildcat.”

Stargirl

The series, which is created by Geoff Johns, opens with an episode entitled “Stargirl.” The episode begins with a flashback from ten years before showing a fight between the Justice Society of America and the Injustice Society of America that doesn’t end well for the superheroes. As he lies dying, Starman tells his sidekick that the JSA legacy must continue and asks him to take his Cosmic Staff. Yolanda is still hesitant to accept her role as Wildcat, but she knows she must confront her parents and ask forgiveness. Her mother refuses to listen to her, and Yolanda cries. Then she finds the Wildcat suit in her room, puts it on, and moves forward.

The audience then catches a glimpse of Courtney Whitmore waiting for her father to come on Christmas Eve. He never shows. The story jumps ahead to the present day. Courtney is upset by her mother’s marriage to Pat Dugan and the blended family’s move to Blue Valley, Nebraska.

Her first day at her new high school is hardly successful, but that evening Courtney finds the Cosmic Staff in the basement. She is curious about it, and to her shock, it works for her. The Staff takes Courtney on quite an adventure, and Courtney becomes convinced that she must be the daughter of Starman.

Henry King, Jr., sees Courtney’s first try at the Cosmic Staff and reports to his father, who turns out to be ISA member Brainwave. Courtney uses the Staff again, despite a warning from Pat, and she ends up face to face with Brainwave. The episode ends on a stunning cliffhanger, leaving viewers breathless.  When she puts on the headset, though, the suit suddenly shapes itself to Yolanda’s form, and the girl discovers that she now has Wildcat’s powers, including sharp claws, extraordinary balance, and the ability to always land on her feet.

Wildcat

Another especially memorable episode is the fourth in the first season, “Wildcat.” In this episode, Courtney befriends Yolanda Montez. Yolanda is an outcast both at school and in her family after an embarrassing incident involving a topless photograph. Yolanda realizes she did wrong, but she doesn’t deserve the heartache she now has.

Courtney stands up for Yolanda to Cindy Burman and then invites Yolanda over to her house. Courtney shows Yolanda the Cosmic Staff and also pulls out Wildcat’s old suit. Yolanda tries on the suit, but it doesn’t really fit her. When she puts on the headset, though, the suit suddenly shapes itself to Yolanda’s form, and the girl discovers that she now has Wildcat’s powers, including sharp claws, extraordinary balance and the ability to always land on her feet.

Yolanda is still hesitant to accept her role as Wildcat, but she knows she must confront her parents and ask forgiveness. Her mother refuses to listen to her, and Yolanda cries. Then she finds the Wildcat suit in her room, puts it on, and moves forward.
